Hole Overview of hole
#1
Need a straight, but not long drive. Big hitters can go for green in 2. You are better off hitting a middle iron to about 100 yards out. Don't ruin your round by gettin greedy on the first hole.
#2
Blue tees: Hit drive over tree on hill to the right of the fairway. White tees: Hit low iron to right side of fairway. Good Drive = easy hole. Bad drive = double or worse.
#3
Hit medium length drive, relatively easy approach shot. Take 1 less club into green, you don't want to go long.
#4
Hit medium length drive, stay on right half of the fairway. Regardless of pin position, hit approach on right side of green, since green slopes to left.
#5
Need good long drive. If you are afraid of hooking drive, aim toward #4 fairway. Safe approach shot is to left side of green.
#6
Easy par 3 if you don't go right. Members bounce off of the hill on the left may result in lucky birdie.
#7
Toughest hole on front. Need straight long drive. Still will have a long shot over water.
#8
Tough par 3. OB on left, trees, hill on right.
#9
Hit drive down left side of fairway, but stay away from trees, fairway slopes to right. Don't overhit approach or ball will land on practice putting green.
#10
Tough driving hole. Hook it, you're in the water. Fade it and hit the cart path, you are in the water. Big hitters should not hit driver. Approach is no easier with green surrounded by bunkers.
#11
Easy driving hole if you don't slice. If you hit your drive over the fence, don't go after it. Big German Shepard will not like you looking in his yard for a ball. Big green with easy approach.
#12
Hit drive on left half of fairway, which slopes to the right. Aim a little left of hole on approach shot, since green slopes right.
#13
Tough par 3. Water on right; trees and thick rough to left of hole.
#14
Hit drive down left side of fairway. Easy approach shot if you put drive in play.
#15
Another tough driving hole. OB left, thick trees on right side of fairway. If you are afraid of hooking your drive over the fence try driving down #16 fairway and hit long 2nd shot over trees.
#16
#1 handicap hole, but you can par it if you hit a good drive. If you don't hit a good drive, swallow your pride and layup. There is a large supply of golf balls in the creek from poor decisions on this hole.
#17
Medium length par 3 over water. Green is wide, but not real deep. Better to miss left or long, than right or short.
#18
Easy par 5 if you play smart. Big hitters should hit fairway wood or iron off tee, followed by middle iron. This will put you 100 yards out. Stay out of back bunker with approach.
One of the great things about playing Squaw Creek is that the pace of play is usually 4 hours or less. Sometimes we take slow players to the creek on 16 and:
do this to speed up play
